I have been learning the basics of setting up a blog to keep an electronic record of my evidence of professional learning and to have a place to collect and share resources. The Year 12 Maths Applications students are doing statistics and I have found the best data for them to analyse is from gap minder. Data on a multitude of indicators gathered from 200 countries over 200 years. It is presented in such an interesting way and the students are learning about the geography, economics and population statistics of the world while using and applying the concepts of the course at the same time.
Hans Rosling presents videos to explain the statistics using graphics.
Here is a sample to watch and be amazed.
